Designed for Versatility Platinum Preppy Wa Modern Maki-e Fountain Pen Hyotan

The Platinum Preppy fountain pen is lovely example of Japanese pen design – with a smart coloured polycarbonate barrel. It’s the same low-price refillable fountain pen with an ink cartridge in one of 6 colours. The cap is translucent, and the barrel is coloured with a chic Japanese pattern. Hi-tech feed system ensures reliable ink flow.

Hyotan has a red barrel decorated with the fruit of the gourd. The fruit of the gourd is recognisable by the constricting shape at it’s center and has inspired the design of this pen. They possess many seeds and are said to bring prosperity. The fruit is made famous in Japan by the horse seal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who was the general who first united Japan.
